The enormous Erawan Cave is also definitely worth a visit and is another 15 minutes away from Casa De Jonghe. This cave houses a large statue of Lord Buddha amidst beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Wat Tham Klong Phen, a quiet forest monastery outside the city, is revered as the home of the famous meditation monk Luang Phu Khao Analayo.

Nongbua Lamphu is also very popular among historians. There are a large number of prehistoric and archaeological sites in this region. Prehistoric drawings discovered on a mountain at the archaeological site of Phu Pha are believed to be 2000 to 3000 years old. Another archaeological site is located near the city of Nongbua Lamphu, where 140 million year old fossils of molluscs have been excavated.

The cultural wealth of the people of this province is clearly illustrated by the various fairs and festivals that are held annually. The most colorful of these is the Boon Bung Fai Festival or Rocket Festival held in June. Other popular events include the pilgrimage to the Holy Erawan Cave held in April and King Naresuan the Grand Fair held in January.
